Silver Ferns, Mother Earth and Enviroschools share pre-loved netballs!

Several Waikato Primary Schools are now using netballs previously used by Silver Ferns demonstrating how sustainable thinking is becoming part of what we do here in New Zealand. Hamilton East Primary School was selected as one of the recipients of the pre-loved netballs (along with Nawton and Ngaruawahia in the Waikato) as part of Mother Earth/ Netball NZ/ Enviroschools sponsorship. The netballs were presented at an assembly in early Term 3 by Silver Fern Kelly Jury followed by a skills session for the schools’ netball players.

Netball New Zealand offered Mother Earth 120 netballs to be upcycled and donated to Kiwi Enviroschool children.  Mother Earth is also the main sponsor for Netball NZ’s futureFERNS programme.

Esther Kirk, National Manager for Enviroschools says “We are excited to be involved with this fantastic initiative which supports the Enviroschools kaupapa and holistic approach. It’s great to be reusing the netball resources and supporting the physical health of young people through connection with their netball role models.”
